Since Rupert developed an obsession with The Gruffalo last Christmas, we thought it was only fair to pay a visit to the (free!) Gruffalo Spotters Trail in Jeskyns Forest in Kent.
We love it because... This unique day out involves downloading an augmented reality app, so you can use your phone to make the Gruffalo characters come alive when you spot them in the park. He was slightly confused about this, but it made it all a bit more exciting! You can also pick up activity packs at the cafe on site, and there's a few playgrounds on the route so kids won't feel too much like they've been conned into doing 'a walk'. And it's free!
We spotted... All the famous Gruffalo characters, including a life-size Gruffalo in the playground! There's also a family-friendly cafe if you need a rest at the end!
Top tip... Don't take a buggy! There are paths but they're stony and bumpy, and you'll constantly be coming off the path when you spot one of the markers.
