For beautiful beaches, quaint cobbled streets and a new boost of London-level cafes and eateries, head to Broadstairs, just a couple of hours from central London.
We love it because... It doesn't get much better for families than this! The beautiful sandy beach is packed with entertainment for older kids (boats, bouncy castles, rides) and little ones can make sandcastles and paddle in the shallow waves. There's also a seconded secluded beach round the corner which is nearly always empty!
We spotted... Lots of trendy new cafes, pubs and restaurants that all seemed very family friendly. As well as the traditional fish and chip shops right on the beach! The vibe here is really casual and relaxed, and not too busy - you can even park on most of the roads here for free.
Watch out for... The narrow, winding streets and hills aren't catered for the weekend traffic - you need your wits about you if you're pushing a buggy! Having said that, there's a lovely long seafront path that runs down towards Ramsgate which is perfect for walking with prams.
Don't miss... The beautiful holiday rental on Eastern Esplanade which we made our home for the weekend. This Victorian seafront villa is spacious and full of children's toys, high chairs, bouncy chairs, cots and beach toys - perfect for a mix of ages - and the most amazing sea views. Check it out here.
