What better way to spend a sunny afternoon than with a boat trip along a river? Check out the family-friendly Dapdune Wharf in Guildford, Surrey, for a day out with a difference.
We love it because... There's plenty for kids to see here, as well as the boat rides. The small museum has interactive pulleys, buttons and models where little ones can learn about all things nautical and play with water. It's set on beautiful National Trust land where you can wander round the different exhibitions, explore a static ship and even take part in kids activity classes.
Top tip... There's a small cafe and tea room but there's plenty of outdoor space so take a picnic and explore the 'grass maze' and 'island' surrounded by the River Wey.
When to go... The boat trips run every hour but you need to book them when you arrive at the ticket desk and it gets busy during sunny days and school holidays. Get there for opening (11am) and choose a time to suit you during the day.
What's not so good... There's a ticket entry price (free for National Trust members) AND a separate ticket to buy for the boat trips, and it's only free for under 1s, so it could be quite costly for a big family.
