Tell us about your family
There's Bertie 3, and Woody, 15 months, and Derek our sausage dog. Oh and me and my husband. It was actually our 9 year anniversary recently. Since getting hitched we stopped celebrating it, we do something on our wedding anniversary instead. Seems a bit of shame really.
How and why did you start your own blog, Mother of All Lists?
I started Mother of All Lists just over a year ago. I started it to keep my creative mind sane during my second maternity leave. Lists seemed like a good idea, because bullet points are easier than sentences
'Who' is Peckham Mamma?
‘Peckham_mamma” Is my instagram handle. Once in awhile someone will say ‘you are Peckham Mamma aren’t you?’ it’s fine online, but saying it out loud makes me cringe!! Beyond that it’s just me sharing moments of my life. I try to give an honest account of my experience of being a mum. The disaster, the mayhem and also the utterly gorgeous bits. For me it's about finding the joy in everything. Parenting is one funny moment after the after. Sure you might be crying or screaming inside, but I find the best remedy for the WTF moments is to have a laugh at it (and then take a picture and share it on Instagram).
It can be hard to juggle a career and family life. What, if anything, do you feel you've sacrificed by choosing your multi-tasking lifestyle?
My sanity! I don’t have an awful lot of down-time. And general clothes maintenance: an overflowing wash basket, crumpled clothes in my wardrobe and the boys nearly always wear odd socks. But you , know somethings gotta give….
What's your top tip for mums on maternity leave?
Get out of the house. Doesn’t matter if bubba is still in PJ’s and you’ve got grubby hair. Getting out always makes you feel better. Grab a coffee. Stroll round the park. Buy a new cheap lippy from boots. Little doable activities that can make ‘one of those days’ seem SO much better.
What blogs/magazines/sites do you love to read?
Make us feel better about ourselves. What's your biggest mum fail?
One look at my Instagram and you will see my life is riddled with them. I recently left Bertie’s scooter at the bus stop. Thankfully it was still there when we got back 2 hours. Says a lot about the good people of Peckham. Massive relief. Even imagining the meltdown/heartbreak that would have ensued makes my blood-pressure sky rocket.
Where do you hang out with the family?
Near food. My husband and I love eating out. Or cooking. Or eating in. Or talking about food. You could call it greed, but I prefer ‘foodie’.
Right this moment? I am about to dash out of the office to get the boys. More often than not I don’t allow enough time to go to the loo first, which makes the journey from Farringdon to Peckham a little tense….
Long term? I love a plan (almost as much as a list). But I’m trying to sit back and just see what happens. There’s a few events and exciting collaborations on the table for Mother of All Lists. Mostly I am all about embracing the girl power out there, having a giggle and trying to get up to date with the washing...
