We visited The Garden, the Science Museum's Basement exploration exhibition for children aged 3-6 yrs, in Kensington.
We love it because... The space is busy, fun and manic but it's perfect for kids to let off some steam. The Garden is suggested for children aged 3-6yrs but our 11-month olds loved it so don't be put off by this as there's no restriction. There's plenty of space to crawl around if they're just starting to explore, and there's more 'scientific' activities for older children too.
We spotted... A few soft play areas, a big water feature with streams and boats, rubber ropes and optical-illusion lights - it's basically a sensory overload!
Top tip... Combine your visit with a day trip to London or a walk around Hyde Park. The Museum's cafes are great and very family friendly, as are the neighbouring V&A Museum and Museum of Natural History. There's a big buggy park opposite The Garden space and plenty of baby change facilities in the Museum too.
When to go... The Garden was pretty busy on a weekday with school trips, so we recommend going early. You'll find The Garden in their basement and there are plenty of lifts for buggy friendly access.
