OK, so Battersea isn't on the doorstep for South-East Londoners like us, but it's less than half an hour away and the Bees Knees play room in Battersea Arts Centre is a great central spot to meet fellow mums who hail from SW postcodes.
We love it because... It's a Teletubby-land of play that's a little different to a standard soft play centre. What's more the entry fees are cheap (£3 currently) and the revenue funds this beautiful community arts centre, rather than the pockets of Mr Gambado! The room itself is decked out with hills and steps so crawlers will love scaling the room, and there are loads of different toys so kids of all ages (it's open to children 0-5yrs) can roam around exploring absolutely everything.
Mums will love... The coffee shop next door! Unlike most soft play centres, you can take in a coffee, so you can 'relax' on the grass and take a caffeine hit while your babies play.
We spotted... A great mix of mums, dads, nannies and childminders. It's a social spot for making friends with other mums or childcare providers and the kids get stuck in playing together too.
Top tip... Get there early! We went to the 10am - 1pm morning session and it was full by 10:30am. If you're driving, it's only a few minutes walk from the huge Asda superstore, which offers free parking for 2 hours. Alternatively, jump on a train to Clapham Junction station which is close.
