Not all mum-and-baby clubs are a hit. Amongst a sea of nursery rhymes and sensory classes, Foxtots (in Crystal Palace and Sydenham) stands out as a unique and brilliantly bonkers experience...
We love it because... Rosie Fox (the class leader) is fantastic! She was a professional actor/musician and you can really tell - her singing is fab and the music is a mix of fun pop songs and her own compositions - none of the basic 'Row, row, row your boat' here. She uses a mix of instruments - at one point she even brought out and played a trombone! We went to the Crystal Palace class, which takes place in the Sparrowhawk pub (an added bonus!) and makes it feel much more fun and laid back than some of the more 'sensible' classes we've been to in church halls or libraries.
We spotted... Lots of colourful and fun props for the kids, like scarves, beanbags, bubbles and percussion sticks to bang along with the music. The class really is quite mad but the kids absolutely love it and they have lots of room and freedom to run around and enjoy it.
When to go... Thankfully Rosie runs classes in three locations at different times, so it's perfect for mums with kids of all ages, and there should be a class to fit your routine.
Monday: Sparrowhawk pub in Crystal Palace: 1145, 1300, 1400 and 1500
Tuesdays: 65 Tannsfeld Rd, Sydenham: 1000, 1100 and 1330
Wednesdays: The Golden Lion, Sydenham Rd, Sydenham: 1030, 1130, 1230 and 1330
Top tip... The classes are booked as a block of six (to attend within 8 weeks) and they're usually booked up, so make sure you contact Rosie to book a taster session.
