Splattermake is a unique venture set up by a local mum in nearby Beckenham, offering a range of learn-while-you-play classes for kids and adults. Perfect indoor entertainment that's a step up on your everyday gymboree!
We love it because... There's something for everyone, and for kids of all ages. We tried out the messy play (for ages 2-4) but there was a huge range to classes to choose from, including cooking, sewing, crafts, dance, drama and science. The classes are for children aged 16 months to 11 years, and they also have a range of teens and adult learning classes too (called Know How You). There's an emphasis on fun as well as learning, but the classes are linked to life skills to help little ones understand more about the wider world - the children's cooking class ends with them doing the washing up!
It's the perfect place to sign up kids for a one-off class (when you need a break - you can leave them there!) or a block booking, when you can see they're really interested in learning something.
Eva, aged 3, says... I loved the messy play class, where I learnt to make bubble paintings and mucky flour cakes. I made a huge mess but mummy didn't mind because we weren't making a mess in the living room. It was good because it was raining, so I was going to be stuck indoors until mummy suggested we go here instead.
We spotted... Potential! This great venue is stylish, centrally located (opposite Beckenham Spa) and spacious. You can also hire one of the rooms for kids parties (and the super-creative team there will help with the theme).
Top tip.... Keep visiting their website for the ever-changing programme. Kids will love the seasonal events, like Halloween half-term 'Make Your Own Witch's Outfit' or the upcoming Christmas grotto.
