Get out to the countryside and explore the lovely little village of Eynsford, Kent, just an hour's drive from South London.
We love it because... Without too much of a drive, you can feel like you're miles away from the hustle and bustle of London and quickly relax. It's amazing to take some deep breaths of fresh country air! Eynsford is a tiny village, but there are a few shops offering the essentials and a couple of pubs for a post-walk shandy!
We spotted... The small ford in the centre of Eynsford is always filled with kids in wellies, roaming the river with their fishing nets and playing in the water. It's great entertainment for the children and the river bank is the perfect spot for a picnic or ice cream to watch from. If you're more adventurous, there's also the local Lullingstone castle & Roman Villa, Eagle Heights bird of prey centre and the huge Lullingstone Country Park to explore.
When to go... Eynsford is a great place to explore on a dry day, where you can spend the full day outside really making the most of the countryside. However, there are also a selection of country pubs to enjoy a cosy Sunday roast and also the Riverside tea rooms offering cream teas inside if it's rainy.
