While breastfeeding, I decided to try a dairy free diet due to my son's suspected cow's milk protein allergy. Not only was it hard to give up my favourite things, (chocolate, cheese, cream and anything with a high fat and calorie content) I found it really tough to find great places to eat. So I was relieved and impressed to find the delicious vegetarian and vegan restaurant, Domali, on my doorstep in Crystal Palace.
We love it because... Vegetarian and vegan food has a bit of a bad reputation. But when it's done properly, it can be utterly delicious. Domali offers vegan alternatives to classics such as the good old BLT, as well as more unusual Asian-inspired dishes for evenings if you're out without the kids. There's also room for prams around most tables and comfy sofas, perfect for breastfeeding if you're lucky enough to find one available.
Look out for... the huge garden! Totally unexpected, and spacious enough for multiple buggies or highchairs. There are also lots of leaflets supporting local businesses upstairs, if you're looking for local entertainment for the children or places to meet other parents.
What's not so good... There's no dedicated baby change facility and we resorted to using a window ledge in the ladies loo! Fine if you have a baby under 6 months but potentially dangerous and difficult if they're able to roll or crawl.
