Having done a couple of short jogs to test our postnatal fitness, we decided to bite the bullet and head to our first Buggy Fit. We did our session in Beckenham's Kelsey Park, but there are classes all over the UK.
We love it because... It didn't feel like we were working out. It's tons more fun than the gym, because you're totally distracted chatting to other mums for an hour. Our teacher (Jane Bradshaw, who's an expert in post-natal fitness and also a personal trainer at www.justbefitjane.com) led us on speed walks, interspersed with mini circuits, so it didn't feel too intense and there were lots of breaks to recover. We covered lunges, squats, core work and strengthening with resistance bands, as well as some light cardio. As with any mum and baby group, it's also great to meet other mums and get out of the house - exercising outdoors is definitely good for your endorphins!
Top tip... The sessions are very relaxed, so if you need to stop to feed or cuddle your baby, you can easily catch up at the next stop. The classes are small enough to get help from the instructor too, if you have any specific issues you want to discuss.
Alice, aged 9 months says... It's entertaining for us babies because we get to watch lots of mums running all over the place AND get a long walk around the park. Also, when the mums do core work, we all had a roll around on picnic blankets which was fun.
When to go... Our group had two sessions per week at 10am, so you could do both days per week or chop and change depending on the rest of your weekly schedule. Your first class is free, and then they're booked in blocks of either 5 or 10, which can be used across either day. Check out the Buggy Fit website for details of other classes across South London.
