Got that Friday feeling? Or celebrating a special occasion? Whatever the excuse, treat yourself to a little luxury with a cake from Peggy Porschen in SW1.
We love it because.... At just a stone's throw from Victoria station, this is the perfect spot to meet up with a friend and enjoy the most incredible cakes. And when we say incredible, we really do mean it this time! There's a delicious range of flavours on offer including, strawberries and cream, salted caramel and banoffee pie, alongside a similarly vast range of teas (including decaf for those breastfeeding or pregnant). Couple afternoon tea at Peggy Porschen with a spot of shopping at either Cardinal Place in Victoria or Duke of York Square on the King's Road and you've got an ideal day out.
What's not so good... There's no baby change facility and it's too tight in the Ladies to change them on the floor. If you can manage an hour or two without a nappy change it is worth a visit. Alternatively you can also buy cakes to take away to a nearby park. You could make use of the facilities in Victoria station if you're desperate, or the very baby friendly Parents room at Peter Jones (Sloane Square) which is about 15 mins walk away.
Top tips... Although you can comfortably sit in Peggy's with a pram or two, it would be best leave the pram at home and use your sling if you're meeting up with a larger group. It's an intimate cafe with limited tables, so to avoid being turned away, a sling may be best. Also, look out for any free samples to enjoy whilst you're perusing the selection of cakes. We were offered a free mini meringue, just enough to whet the appetite!
