If you’ve ever driven passed Belair House on Gallery Road you might expect it to be a National Trust house, or a wedding venue or even just a posh restaurant only to be reserved for a special occasion. We gave it a go at however, and there’s a chilled summer vibe on the front lawn serving a great range at the BBQ every weekend.
We love it because...On a sunny day, if you sit outside Belair House, enjoying a glass of crisp cold white wine, with the smell of the BBQ drifting through and summer tunes playing on the decks, you can start to feel like you’re on holiday. It feels more special than going to the local pub garden and is a really good option for a family lunch at the weekend for kids of any age. The lawn is spotted with sofas and benches that are all generously spaced, giving plenty or room for prams and grass for little ones to run around. For the bigger kids, there's giant Jenga and garden noughts and crosses for all to enjoy.
What’s not so good…It wasn’t an issue for us but there aren’t baby change facilities. The loos are huge and pretty luxurious though, so it feels clean and spacious enough to do a quick change on the floor in there. Alternatively, go alfresco (as we did!) and pop in to Belair Park to do it out in the open.
When to go... The BBQ is just at weekends but it's open for coffees and bigger meals inside throughout the week.
Top tip...Despite not listing chips on the menu, they are available to accompany the delicious burgers on offer. Make sure you ask when you order and they’re lovely skin on fries too!
