The strap line at Bertie & Boo is, 'get the kids stuck in to playing so the adults can tuck in to the menu...' and that's exactly what they deliver! Bertie & Boo offer a cafe/restaurant with on-site soft play, with branches on Northcote Road, Clapham and in Balham.
We love it because... Bertie & Boo is the perfect spot to meet up with friends with kids if you want to actually have an uninterrupted adult conversation. Yes, you read that correct - you may be able to eat with a knife AND fork, and chat, despite the kids being around! At Bertie & Boo, there's a small creche with soft play and activities to keep kids entertained while you eat. If the children are under 2 years old, they need to be accompanied by an adult, but if they're older, they can play in the creche to their hearts content, as there are staff supervising in the room. The staff are really great too and will politely come and get you if your child is asking for you in the creche.
We spotted... A delicious menu offering a great selection for adults and kids. From huge burgers to really generous, tasty salads, there's something for everyone. Even the drinks are great, with fresh juices served in jam jars (you can almost pretend it's a cocktail!).
Facilities include... A buggy park, small creche with soft play, a delicious menu (for kids and grown ups) and most importantly, child-friendly staff who are really accommodating and attentive with any request.
Top tip... Although we missed this on our visit, the website has details of great 'Magical Story Times' which take place at various points throughout the day. There's also the option to hire Bertie & Boo for your child's birthday party - see the website for more details.
What's not so good... Weirdly, since it's such a baby-friendly venue there's only one very small nappy changing area (in the Northcote road branch we visited). It does the job but it does mean there's sometimes a queue!
